Dispatch & Freight Management

Semi-Truck Dispatch Services

Semi-truck dispatch services help owner-operators and small motor carriers find and arrange freight that fits their equipment and lanes, and handle broker communication and paperwork. The carrier remains responsible for operating decisions.

Key Takeaways

Dry van, reefer, flatbed and other trailer types serve different freight. Accurate equipment details help match opportunities you can actually haul.

Equipment type matters

Lane preferences matter

Where you want to run, how often you want to be home and which regions you know all shape which loads make sense. Sharing these preferences clearly helps a dispatcher focus the search.

A proposed rate is not the same as profit

A load's rate must cover fuel, deadhead, tolls, insurance, truck and trailer payments, maintenance and your time. A higher-paying load in the wrong direction can be worth less than a modest one that positions you well.

  • Know your cost per mile
  • Count deadhead miles to the pickup
  • Consider detention and waiting time
  • Think about the next load from the delivery area

Paperwork and broker communication

Carrier packets, rate confirmations, BOLs, PODs and invoices are part of running the business. Late or missing paperwork can delay payment.

The carrier stays in control

Whoever helps with dispatch, the motor carrier is responsible for safety, compliance and the decision to accept a load.

DHC Semi Truck Service Plan

DHC's Semi Truck Service Plan is $350 per week — a flat weekly rate with no percentage dispatch fee. DHC does not promise freight volume or revenue.
